TIPS TO PLAY COBRA

RULES OF COBRA

These rules provide a clear outline of how to play the Cobra card game, including the re-entry option. There are many other conditions within the game but these are used variously by different groups of players.

Objective

The goal of the Cobra card game is to keep the minimum points in your hand and avoid accumulating 100 points.

Setup

• The game begins by each player bringing a fixed amount to the prize pool. Once the set number of players are seated, the game begins.
• Cobra game uses 3 decks of 52 cards each. The jokers are not used in this game.
• Each player is dealt 7 cards.

Card Values

A = 1 point, 2 to 10 = face value, J = 11, Q = 12, K = 13 points.

Gameplay

1. On your turn, you must select a group of cards in one of the following ways:

• Same number (minimum 2 cards).
• Same suit (minimum 3 cards).
• Cards in sequence (minimum 3 cards).

The selected cards will have a checkbox on them.

2. After creating a group, discard the group onto the table.

3. Pick 1 card from the table or the previous player's thrown cards.

4. Use the picked card to create a new group, which you can throw on your next turn.

5. If unable to create a group, throw 1 single card.

6. The goal is to minimize points in your hand by forming groups.

Showing and Scoring

• To declare, the sum of the points of the cards in your hands must be less than 30. If you declare at a higher points value, it is a wrong declare and you will get a penalty of 30 points plus the total points of cards in your hand.
• Declare "show" when you believe you have the minimum points in your hand.
• If you have the minimum points, your score for the round is 0.
• If another player has fewer points than you, they win the round with a score of 0.
• If you receive a "cobra" penalty of 30 points plus points in your hand.Players can declare show if the sum of their points is <30 in th first round. And sum of their points is <20 in the second round.

• Other players receive points based on the cards in their hand.

Re-Entry Option:

If a player is eliminated from the game by reaching 100 points, they can re-enter the game by paying 1.5 times the game amount.

If a player declines a re-entry, then they will be sat-out for that game. When a new game starts, they will be asked to pay the regulay entry fee for the new game that is about to start.

Winning

The game is played to a total of 100 points.

Players with 100 points or more are eliminated (unless they choose to re-enter).

The last remaining player with the fewest points wins the prize pool.

Other Rules

• If more than one player holds a single card and that card is an ACE, the hand is cancelled and a new hand will be started.
